What is ACCA?

ACCA( Association of Chartered Certified Accountants). ACCA is the most sought and one of the highest paid professions over the past few years.

ACCA is considered as a global CA and it is accepted worldwide in all the countries. Students can start giving their ACCA exam right after their schooling.

Exam Structure

When it comes to ACCA (Association of Certified Chartered Accounts) there are 3 different levels which include different subject matters. Here we go,

  1. Applied Knowledge (includes 3 papers),
  2. Applied Skills (includes 6 papers),
  3. Professional (includes 4 papers).

When it comes to professional 2 papers are essential and you are given the option to choose 2 papers from 4 different subjects.

With proper dedication and hardwork one can clear all the 13 papers even in the first attempt itself.

ACCA Exemptions

Exemptions allow you to start your career in ACCA. Even if you start late you don’t have to start from the first. ACCA allows you exemptions to pursue ACCA based on your academic background. If you have completed your grade 10 or 12th you won’t be given any exemptions.

When you complete your undergraduate degree and still you are interested in pursuing your ACCA here are some of the exemption chances based on your ug degree,

  1. B.Com

So, If you are an undergraduate and you have completed your bachelors in B.Com and you will be given a chance of 4 Exemptions , i.e out of 13 papers you will start preparing for ACCA from the 5th paper.

With this exemption of 4 papers one can literally save more time which is close to one year. Someone who started early to prepare for ACCA wont get this opportunity.

People who start preparing late for ACCA course after their graduation can save one year of time because preparation time for the exempted 4 papers will cost you around 9 months-12 months.

  1. BBA

After completing BBA as your undergraduate degree you will be given a chance of 1 exemption to pursue ACCA.

  1. BAF

After completing your BAF as your undergraduate degree you will be given a chance of 4 exemptions similar to B.com

  1. BMS (Finance ) & BMS (Marketing)

If you have completed BMS (Finance) course than you will be given a chance of 1 exemption and if you are a BMS (Marketing) graduate you won’t be getting any exemption from ACCA course

BFM and BBI

When it comes to BFM and BBI there is a procedure to be done whether you will get exemptions or not. Your certificates should be sent to ACCA and have to verify whether you will get any exemptions or not.

Exemptions are given for these particular undergrad students based on certain criteria they fulfill. If you fulfill their criteria’s you will be given a chance of 4 exemptions.

6. IPCC/CA intermediate qualified

If the students have completed IPCC/CA they will get a chance of 5 papers exemption and they have to complete 8 papers and clear out. If you have completed your IPCC along with B.com then you will get a chance of 6 papers exemption and have to clear the rest of 7 papers.

7. CA Qualified

If you are qualified CA professional and you will be getting a chance of 9 papers exemption and have to complete other 4 paper and clear the examination and it would take the time of 1 year approximately.

8.CMA USA qualified

If you are an US CMA then you are given a chance of 6 papers exemption and you have to complete the rest of the papers which would take another 1–1.5 years of time.

And if you are a qualified CMA professional with an experience of less than 5 years you will be given a chance of 7 exemptions and if you have experience of more than 5 years you will be given the chance of 9 exemptions paper.
